Structured Cabling is part of your Core Network and is one of the most crucial pieces of your school’s infrastructure. It is what allows all the information to pass from classroom to classroom and out to the Internet. Structured Cabling includes all the physical wires in the walls to the punch down in the Network Closet. This includes data cabling that runs from the main MDF Room, IDF Room or Sub Switch. They are then connected to a wall plate at many locations throughout your school facility. This hardware carries the data around your campus and to either the Internet or to your other campus locations.
The physical wiring in your school should also include server racks, ladder racks, patch panels, fiber interconnect, fiber patch panels, and horizontal and vertical cable management. These are all pieces to help organize and properly structure all the wiring running throughout the school.
